H I S T O R Y |
Terry McGinnis, like most of the Bat crew, didn’t exactly begin life as an average kid. By the time his father was killed by Jokerz (a name referring to a number of gangs styled after Gotham’s most infamous villain), he was in a gang of his own. While trying to clear his head, he stumbled across Wayne Manor, and managed to bumble his way straight into the Batcave. Once there, he stole the Batsuit to get his revenge, and somehow ended up with a job.
Terry’s girlfriend (Dana Tan, currently an NPC found on ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) just_anybody) broke up with him for never having time to spend with her. He then met Melanie Walker, alwaysfast, who lived a double life as Ten of the Royal Flush gang. He found out her secret identity, though she never found out his, and while they later tried to cooperate, they still ended up enemies.
After about a year on the job, Terry found the Nexus. And got stuck there for a month. When he got back, he immediately told old man Wayne (hitwithbatcane), but kept it a general secret for more than a year. After an initial series of suit upgrades and data collection, he mostly used the place to catch up on homework or find people to hang out with until he started regularly encountering Tim Drake (redlyreflecting). After that, he still used to hang out with, he just argued with Tim a lot.
Then, in April ’07, Terry’s best friend Max (knows_too_much) found the Nexus and, in spite of his best efforts, about everything he’d been up to. Mostly in the form of Tim, with whom she flirted shamelessly. He also picked up a Robin of his own (not_your_robin) and began training him.
That Robin saw his first action fighting firstisthew0rst, an evil clone of Terry’s provided by the Nexus.
That summer, Terry took a trip where he failed to tell Dana his secret identity while not_your_robin died and came back to life after chasing Inque. Terry got involved with the hunt for in_verbatim after he shot his friend sarah_branigan. bishie_beastboy and 65isthenew30 watched the city, while Bruce had a heart attack. He survived, but it made Terry a little paranoid about leaving the city alone.

P E R S O N A L I T Y |
Terry is a much more social Batman than Bruce, genuinely enjoying human company an active life outside of the Batsuit, even dating a single woman seriously (though this does not prevent him from straying a little bit every once in… okay, fairly often). He does care about people and try and do the right thing for everyone, willing to offer a good amount of self sacrifice, and he has a major guilt complex, assuming responsibility for everyone in his world, everyone he’s ever met, and everyone who asks. In the Nexus, he won’t interfere in anything until he’s either been asked or dragged in, but this is a simple matter of practicality – he can’t fight every fight. Once he finds out about a problem, though, he likes to know that someone he trusts completely (oftentimes hypnosnake) is on it. He does tend to both joke and complain a lot, maintaining a general humor and cheerfulness through both and often feigning being more exasperated than he is. He can be just a bit of a geek, though he hides that side of him as much as possible. Artificial intelligence isn’t something he fully buys into, meaning that his treatment of robots can be rather rough.

B A T S U I T |
While he’s acting as Batman, Terry’s journal is secondisthebest. He keeps this identity secret even among his friends in the Nexus, going so far as to mask his scent and voice inside it. The suit can generate boomerangs, both explosive and non. It enhances Terry’s strength and speed, as well as his durability, and has a number of other non lethal weapons – cables, different kinds of knockout gas, stun and flash grenades, and even pepper spray. He also has the S.H.A.Z.A.M., an all purpose transforming tool he got from youngest_megami. The suit has been upgraded with PIN technology, coded mostly with voice activation, however, if Terry is in life-threatening danger or suddenly blacks out, it’s set to PIN him straight to the ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) nexus_clinics. It’s also been upgraded with sound-cancelling technology, specifically to combat Shriek, though this has to be specially activated. Terry’s other major Nexus possession, which he keeps on his belt in spite of having no use and no training it, is a lightsaber.
